An extensive monograph published on the occasion of Miroslav Melena's exhibition

The Arts and Theatre Institute in cooperation with Teatrum Mundi o.s. has prepared an exhibition IN THE SERVICE OF THEATRE – Miroslav Melena / Scenographer and Architect which is held on June 8-28 on the premises of Prague's Old Town Hall. Miroslav Melena is without doubts one of the most significant contemporary Czech scenographers and theatre architects. The exhibition introduces both his scenography and architectural work.

The scenography part of the exhibition displays original stage and costume designs, puppets, models and photographs mostly from the period of Melena's cooperation with the Ypsilon Theatre in Liberec and later in Prague.

The part devoted to Melena's architectural work presents large format photographs and film footage of Melena's important works on the territory  of the Czech Republic (e.g. Archa and Semafor Theatres in Prague, Municipal Theatre and Reduta Theatre in Brno, Horácké Theatre in Jihlava, Sokolov Theatre, etc.)

An extensive Czech-English monograph MIROSLAV MELENA / SCENOGRAPHER AND ARCHITECT was published on the occasion of the exhibition. The book was inaugurated at the opening of the exhibition on June 7 at 5 pm (Old Town Hall, Old Town Square, Staroměstské nám. 1, Praha 1).
