Call for the International Symposium for the Makers

Devised Dramaturgy: a Shared Space is an international symposium organized by the Prague Quadrennial in cooperation with some of the major Czech theatre organizations, venues and schools in the Czech Republic with the main aim at creating a platform for makers of devised theatre to map the main issues in the field and ways to talk about their practice, in order to strengthen new discourse in performance and performance space.

The Arts and Theatre Institute bids farewell to one of the greatest Czech playwrights

The sad news of the death of Václav Havel has personally touched many in the wide community of theatre artists that Havel belonged to for more than half a century. Havel had ties to the Theatre Institute (now the Arts and Theatre Institute) already back in the 1960s and again during the Velvet Revolution, when the Theatre Institute gave support to the theatres on strike. When the continued existence of the Theatre Institute was at risk, Václav Havel interceded to keep it in Prague.

The Theatre Institute (TI) is a centre of information, advice, education, production, and publishing for the field of theatre. It openly provides a broad range of services (a library, bibliography, documentation, video library, web portals, and databases), initiates and takes part in international projects, promotes and presents Czech theatre abroad, collects work and objects relating to the theatre, engages in research and documentation, and publishes scholarly work on the theatre.
